Movable support and flying technique in contact improvisation Contact improvisation is based on the communication between two moving bodies that are in physical contact and their combined relationship to the physical laws that govern their movement; gravity, momentum, inertia. The body, in order to feel these sensations, learns to release excess muscular tension and abandon a certain quality of willfulness to experience the natural flow of movement. This class will include rolling, falling, being upside down, following a physical point of contact, supporting and giving weight to a partner. We will aim towards movable support and gentle flying technique. Mirva […]

A TRIBUTE TO TOUCH Contact Improvisation & Body Mind Centering ® What else to do in thise crazy time? A propose: a “revolution through touch”! That was how the CI was described by Karen Nelson 30 years ago. We are in charge of it ,now more than ever. So in this intensive, I feel like taking time together to deepen our commitment to touch, building truth and trust in it. Sensing it, feeling it. There is ways to explore touch as nutrition, ways to explore it as a deep place of support . There is borders to be re-opened, meeting to […]

FLUID DYNAMICS We will go trough different ways to improvise, in and out of the contact with one or more partners, researching directly with movement and attention in the very moment when the dance happens, looking for what is possible. We will share some questions to keep the mind bright and a fluid and reactive body: how do I listen to my body? How do I prepare to relate to another person? How do I feed the relationship? How do I explore the space between bodies? In these Contact Improvisation classes, listening and curiosity can offer us a unitary process […]

EMBODIMENT OF PRESENT TIME I think about C.I. as an investigation in two simultaneous directions: stillness and movement. Both directions bring to appear the consciousness of present time on to the body, the duration of the sensation, the speed of attention, the constant of gravity testing our balance, the frequency of the sensitive stimulus, the rhythm of breathing, the proximity of the reflex reactions. The perception is a great improvisation dance with deep connections in to the present. How can we make our practice a psychophysics consciousness experience of time? In this sense, as improvisers in search of unknown landscapes, […]

Toolbox for moving contact situations In this classes we will work with diferent scores o phisical tools that will help us later in organizing our body and find fluidity for improvising: gravity, weight, unstable equilibrium, skin and touch, direction of the eyes, continuity, impulses, relationship with the other. All this as basic tools to go into momentum and the phisical response in a healthy and sicure way. Ojectives: To explore diferent poits of view to be prepared to practice CI. Give the body the tools to move out of axes. Increase the body perseption to have better responds. Have presense […]

FLUID MIND In this class I will share my investigation around some event that keep my mind moving and my body available while I dance C.I. We will look at the “ground reaction” as bio-mechanic phenomenon. The architecture of the bones direct the weight downwards with the resistance of the floor replying with an upward supportive force, called ground reaction. To be able to receive this force back and let it travel along the body structure it’s one of the key of joy and grace in dancing. We will play with some primitive patterns and see how they can nourish […]
